New Mexico State Requirements

The minimum number of massage training hours that the State of New Mexico requires is 650. The hours have to be specific areas which are outlined below.

UTMI offers a diploma education of 720 hours which exceeds the state requirements, plus allows for greater portability to other states in case you move. Currently there are 3 states that require 1000 hours of training and 3 other states that require 750 hours of training.

This does not mean that you could automatically be eligible for a license in all the other states due to the fact that each state is going to have specific criteria or requirements for the type and amount of classes within those required hours. For example, New Mexico requires a minimum of 40 hours of Pathology. Another state may require 50 hours. In order for you to be licensed in that state (even though they only require a total of 500 hours) you would need to pick up an additional 10 hours of Pathology.
