I am so grateful for the time that I spent at Universal Therapeutic Massage Institute! My instructors were incredibly knowledgeable and informative. In addition, I feel that they really cared about me and my education. At the end of my studies, I wasn’t at all frightened of the NCBTMB! I was confident that my teachers had prepared me fully for anything I would face. After my graduation and successful completion of my testing, I have practiced in two states outside of New Mexico. I can say with confidence that I have surpassed all standards, wherever I may find myself. I often talk with other therapists, and am amazed that they have not received such a detailed education. I did not know how lucky I was to attend UTMI! I am so happy with my choice in attending UTMI. I would make that choice again if given the opportunity. I’m so grateful. Thank You, UTMI! You prepared me for anything I could have faced.
Sincerely, Polli A. G. Texas LMT # MTXXXXX4 Indiana CMT #MTXXXXXXX2
My experience at UTMI was amazing! The atmosphere I experienced during my schooling was that of a family. Both the faculty abd staff truly cared about you, both as a student and as a person. Upon completion of the LMT program, I was more than prepared for the national exam, I was able to pass with my first attempt and a 92% on the MBLEx. UTMI sets you up for success. Within 2 months of graduation I had my state license and a job at a sports and wellness facility as a therapist! I had such a good experience with the LMT program I decided to go back less than 3 months after graduation and do the medical program. Now that I have completed the medical program I have received a raise at work and now have the opportunity to treat people with medical conditions. I cannot recommend UTMI enough! As far as I am concerned there are no other schools in Albuquerque that even come close!
As a graduate of UTMI’s TM program I can say that I was more than pleased with my education. The people/staff were always helpfull in my reaching my goal of becoming a massge therapist. As with any school you get what you put into it, and all that you need is available to you. Even after close to a year from graduation the people are still helpfull when I’ve need them.
When I was looking for massage therapy school programs, I made several visits to various schools in the area. Other school seemed more interested in my financial aid situation rather than taking the time to learn about my educational goals and give me detailed information about the school. When I visited UTMI, I was met with a helpful staff and given an organized, detailed folder with a tremendous amount of information about the program. I was also given time to look over the information and decide if the program fit my needs. Because of the friendly and helpful environment I was presented with at UTMI, I ultimately decided that UTMU was the place for me.
There is no “revolving door” with UTMI. Which mean, when you start a class, you go through that program with the same classmates, which fosters the formulation of a support group and a network of professional relationships. Our class worked together as a team to meet our educational goals and I continue to feel supported by my fellow classmates, even now after graduation.
I live in Rio Rancho and could have chosen a school closer to my home: however, when presented with the quality driven UTMI program, I felt it was worth my drive to receive a better education. I am overwhelmingly pleased with the education I received at UTMI and continued support from the staff, teachers, owners and directors. I would highly recommend this program above any other in the area.
The education at UTMI has been very great. I am so thankful for the learning experience at UTMI. This has also helped me to heal my own body. My instructors are great educators; Roberta and Jamie and all the others.
As a graduate from UTMI, I have successfully used my body working skills as a professional licensed massage therapist to financially support myself throughout my long-term educational goals throughout the better part of a decade.
Massage therapy has afforded me the financial stability and opportunity to obtain an undergraduate degree in the healthcare field all along allowing me flexibility to continue to pursue my educational goals.
UTMI has been a strong foundation in my life success in more ways than I can count.
I have continued my massage therapy practice while working towards a post graduate degree in integrative medicine and have no intention of ever giving up my rewarding massage practice!
Thank you to all the wonderful instructors and staff at UTMI for helping me to make a firm lasting foundation!
Coming to UTMI was the best choice I could have made for my massage therapy career. The staff and teachers are incredibly wonderful and supportive throughout the whole journey. Everyone is willing to help out with questions and concerns you may have. Teachers are very knowledgeable and they have various modalities they specialize in which helps make student feel they are getting the best massage education in New Mexico. UTMI is like my home away from home.
Dear UTMI Staff:
I hope you remember me. I graduated both the LMT class 2008 and Therapeutic Medical Massage 2009. I just got word today that I have now been Board Certified by NCBTMB. I am very excited and I wanted to say a special thank you to you and the staff for my education.
I run a small mobile medical massage business since 2011. I have a steady set of clients, mostly chronic neck issues. That is where I have ended up devoting most of my focus.
Would you please forward this with thanks to Roberta Hartman, John Cummings, and Dr. Trabold. I am not down Carlisle way much but will stop in one of these days & say hi. No one will recognize me though since I weigh 125 pounds less than I did when I went to school ha ha.
The days I went to UTMI were truly the best of my life. I don’t say that to be cliché. I miss the learning process and the massages three times a week. But mostly I miss you guys. It was one of the few places I have ever felt like I really belonged.
With warm regards,
I’ve always heard that hindsight is “20/20” but my foresight was “spot on” when I chose UTMI for massage therapy school. I graduated from UTMI recently, and I tell friends how happy I am with my education there.
When I first went to check out the academy on Aztec Street, I noticed a lively staff, a colorful setting, and a diverse student body. As a student there, I learned that the school had even more to benefit me. My teachers were excellent and often engaging; the support staff for students was solid; and the setup in the clinic, where students give massages, taught professional responsibility but was also flexible and backed up by the staff eager to help when needed.
I knew little about massage when I started, but my modality teachers enabled me to acquire the skill of giving a darn good massage. The Business and Ethics teachers were quite successful massage therapists who gave practical information on career-building. The vast knowledge and methods of my anatomy teachers allowed me to fall in love with a course topic like I hadn’t in years. Advice and a listening ear from both the Director of Education and the Director of Admissions were invaluable. The clinic front desk personnel modeled professionalism for students. The desire of all staff to support students toward success was clear.
I’m pleased that my vision in choosing UTMI was 20/20 and that I now enjoy the benefit of all UTMI offers towards massage therapy skills, a license and ultimate success in the field.
I am a graduate of UTMI and wanted to write about my experiences at this school. UTMI has assembled a highly skilled and dedicated staff that not only educates us as students……… but also helped us to discover a deeper more intuitive side of ourselves. UTMI fosters friendship among its students and teachers that will last long after graduation.
UTMI is one of the only accredited massage schools in New Mexico with access to Federal Financial aid in both basic massage and medical massage and in this day and age, a deeper understanding with more skills is what I need to succeed in this great career.
I think what makes UTMI unique as a school is that their approach is about professionalism from day one. The instructors have ongoing practices so the students receive real world advice on what it takes to succeed after graduation.
I will be attending the Therapeutic Medical Massage program at UTMI because I have experienced numerous chronic pain patients in UTMI’s thriving clinic. I know my business will thrive after I complete this program. It was extremely rewarding treating clients with chronic pain to have them say “MY PAIN IS GONE thank you so much and can we book again next week”? Cha ching!
In closing I am extremely grateful to UTMI for providing me with a first class education. I just can’t wait to see where this career takes me.
The decision to go into the field of massage was an easy one for me. I loved the benefits from massage. I knew it had health benefits as well as comforting, relaxing benefits. Ever since I was a young child my mother would massage my and my sister’sscalps. I recalled how comforting that was and how more people should know that feeling. I had been told that I had good hands for it and that I should try doing it as a career. I didn’t give it a whole lot of thought until I found myself at a turning point in my life. I had been in an administrative position for over 11 years for a subcontractor when I became pregnant with my third child. At the time, my field of work was going through a very dry patch. Construction was at an all time low and cutbacks had to be made. The company had decided a layoff would be in the cards for me. I would have been working to pay for daycare anyway, so it came almost as a blessing in disguise. I wasn’t satisfied with a desk job anymore, and wanted more for my life. I also wanted to be able to spendmore time with my children. I knew that a career as a Massage Therapist would give me the opportunity to have a more flexible schedule. And if I started my own business I could be my own boss, make my own schedule and finally have the time for my family I always wanted.
When school first started, I wondered if I was going to be able to meet the demands of my classes. I was going to have plenty of homework and studying to do, and with three children, including one infant, that was going to be a bit of a struggle. Thankfully my husband was completely supportive and said he would help me in anyway he could. My whole family, for that matter, was very supportive. My mother, father and sister all help take care of the kids when they can to ease some of the responsibilityfor my husband. Without them, I don’t know that this would be possible. I plan on payingthem all back with some very good massages. School has been such a wonderful experience. I have met some really fantastic people. I couldn’t have picked better classmates or teachers. All of whom are very encouraging. I know I have made some very good friends.
I am really looking forward to a career in Massage. Learning something new everyday in school gives me the energy and creativity to really put my heart and mind in this choice that I’ve made. I plan on starting off working out of my home. I would like to be mobile as well. That is what’s so wonderful about this field, you have so many options open to you. With most fields, you have to stay sedentary and you can’t really move around. With Massage you can get out in the world, building a clientele, and meeting new and interesting people. I think of all the people I have already met and it gives me great joy just to think of what’s out there. The main purpose of this field is to make people feel better. Whether it’s for relaxation, easing pain, or just a nice way to get away from the everyday stress that we have in our lives, massage can do all of thesethings and so much more. There is nothing that gives me more joy than seeing people’sexpressions after a massage, knowing that I’ve done something really wonderful for them is a really awesome feeling. Knowing you’ve made a difference in someone’s life is very rewarding. I’ve never had that in any other job I’ve had. Now I’m starting to feel a sense of accomplishment. Realizing that I’m not just going to have a job, but a career is a fantastic feeling. I’m so anxious to get out there and show people everything I’ve learned. I’m really looking forward to helping people love life just a little more.
If you feel like massage therapy is where you want to be, just do it. Everything else will fall into place.
I chose UTMI specifically for their Medical Massage program. I started their Therapeutic Massage program last February, graduated last month in September and begin UTMI’s Medical Massage program next month in November. I should be able to complete this course in only 4 months. Totally worth it.
