Admission Requirements

Students are admitted without regard to gender, race, color, religion, creed, national origin, age, or sexual orientation.

Applicants must be at least seventeen (17) years of age when they begin school. They must be eighteen (18) by their graduation date. Applicants must present a copy of their high school diploma or equivalent (GED). All diplomas/certificates will be verified. The School also needs to make a copy of their current driver's license and social security card.

In addition to the previous eligibility requirements, perspective Therapeutic Medical Massage students must have successfully completed a state approved massage therapy program. To meet Title IV Financial Aid eligibility requirements, applicants may be required to take a few classes to match up with our Therapeutic Massage program.

Admissions procedures require that students visit the School for a personal interview with the Admissions Advisor, the Director of Education, and the Financial Aid Advisor. If the student wishes to attend UTMI, then an enrollment agreement is completed. The student will receive a copy of the enrollment agreement at the time it is signed as well as current catalog and a draft of the student policies.

The student must acknowledge that he or she wil adhere to the student codes of conduct and ethics enacted by UTMI.

In many states, licensing may not be awarded to anyone who has been convicted of a felony. Contact the state licensing agency in your area, and if applicable, the national licensing agency for a list of laws governing licensure.

Potential students with physical challenges must consult with a physician and the administrator to determine if the challenge will interfere with their ability to receive or give massage. A Primary Care Physician's (PCP) or attending physician's release is highly recommended for students with physical disabilities upon entrance into the current programs.

While we are able to work with most students with mild learning disabilities, the perspective student may want to review the Anatomy and Physiology exams to decide if they are capable of learning the material.

Applications for the diploma/certificate programs are accepted throughout the year. New classes in the Therapeutic Massage and Therapeutic Medical Massage programs begin monthly. These classes are either morning, afternoon or evening.

Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Late admissions may be considered on an individual basis taking into consideration availability of space.
